Hostie with the mostie
There's Busy... Then There's Dubai Busy

Chicken or Beef?

I’m so lucky to have spent over 2 decades in my dream job.

Spreading my Hostie sparkle across the Atlantic and beyond, for 21 years to be exact!

I have travelled our incredible world in style, embracing everything it has to offer. From visiting ancient Mayan ruins in Mexico, Kung Fu kicks on the Great Wall of China to playing fire fighter for the day with NYFD.

Memories, fun filled memories to cherish forever.

But all good things come to an end sooner or later……right?

I am known In the Airline industry as ‘Jurassic crew.’ I’ve been part of the furniture for so long, I’m starting to fray around the edges.

Time for a career change?

It was D’s job that brought us to the UAE and has since prompted this line of thinking.
But decision making is something I SUCK at.

Do I stay, or do I go?

What am I good at? What interests me?

What do you WANT to do Jill?

Questions I ask myself every single day.

Change can be a scary thing, but allowing my fears to stand in the way of my own growth and progression has to be even scarier.

Perhaps I won’t be giving up a part of me? I could be exploring a ‘me’ that I never knew existed? It’s actually quite exciting!

NO MORE: Being swept along in the great tide of holiday makers and commuters.

NO MORE: “Chicken or beef?”

NO MORE: “Duty free?”

And the best part: NO MORE 4 am breakfast service 1hr after serving dinner, to a cabin full of death-breath on a jam-packed Lagos.
(Nothing wrong with Lagos per se, they’re just particularly busy flights.)

Dubai could open my window of opportunity to start afresh. Social media sites are full of fabulous, innovative, expat entrepreneurs, who I wholeheartedly admire. Perhaps they’ve been through the same?

Has becoming an expat affected your career, or has the move allowed you to take a break from working life?

Whatever decisions we’ve made, as parents, it’s always family first. Let’s face it, looking after a busy household is a job in itself these days, but your salary is paid in love and more often than not, pre-teen attitude and eye rolling. But, we take it on the chin and move on.

However, I’ll leave you with this….

You are never too old to set another goal or to dream a new dream.

C.S Lewis

Stay focused.

Stay busy.

Love, Jill xx
